Artist Bio

Born in Malta in 1990, Luke Baldacchino showed a deep interest in music from a very young age. He started his percussion studies at the age of four under the guidance of Joe Camilleri (Bibi) and furthered his musical studies at the Johann Strauss School of Music.

Over the years, Luke has performed in a number of settings, including at Għanafest, Evenings on Campus, Notte Bianca, Modern Music Days 2014 and Malta Arts Festival, in which he performed as a soloist as part of the ‘Emerging Artists’ series. He has also formed part of the Johann Strauss School of Music Youth Orchestra, the Euro Academy Orchestra, and the Junior College Orchestra in which he led the percussion section. In addition, he is an occasional performer with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra. He has recently toured with this Orchestra performing in some of most prestigious theatres in China.

Luke has graduated with a first class in Music Studies at the University of Malta, majoring in percussion performance under the guidance of Daniel Cauchi. While at University, he has received further tuition and mentorship from Massimo de Majo, specializing in jazz percussion. He has also recently participated in a jazz course in Trapani (FJAMM), which included workshops and master classes conducted by some of the greatest jazz artists in Europe, including Salvatore Bonafede and Giancarlo Schiaffini.
